A WOMAN was stabbed at a packed Alicante ice cream parlour on Monday after a row involving her ex-partner and two grown-up sons.

The 51-year-old woman was taken to the city’s Doctor Balmis Hospital but her life was never at risk.

Her former partner, 47, and her two sons, aged 20 and 21, have been arrested by the Policia Nacional following an eight hour search.

They face potential attempted murder charges with the father also being quizzed over a gender violence infraction.

The assault happened at around noon on the ice cream parlour’s terrace at Plaza Manila in the Pla district of Alicante.

Multiple witnesses phoned in details after seeing three men get out of a car and approach the woman who was with her daughter- also fathered by her ex-partner.

The Informacion newspaper reported that things got out of hand during an argument between the woman and the man, who she is in the process of divorcing.

The victim was allegedly attacked by one of her sons with pepper spray and then his brother joined by stabbing her in the right side.

There was a history of gender-based violence in the family after her former partner had a restraining order issued against him in 2022, which expired a year later.

The arrested trio are expected to appear before a judge, once the police have worked out who did what.
