It was discovered by a man going to have breakfast at a restaurant next to the RM422 FortunaPinoso road.
The suspect was detained by the Guardia Civil in Alicante province on Tuesday who transferred him to their colleagues in Murcia.
According to Singapore’s Straits Times newspaper, a family friend said that Audrey, 39, had told some acquaintances that she was going to meet somebody she knew during her visit to Spain, but was not aware of who it was.
The case is being run by the Court of Instruction number 3 of Cieza (Murcia) and it is expected that the suspect will be brought before a judge within the next two days.
Audrey had travelled on her own to Spain and was spending a few days at a luxury hotel in Javea with reservations made between April 4 and 10.
Her family last spoke to her on April 9 and she was last spotted walking out of the hotel at around 8.45pm that day with her personal belongings still in her room.
She had been due to fly back to Singapore from Barcelona but did not make the journey.
When she failed to board her flight back and did not arrive in Singapore as scheduled on April 12, the family filed a police report and also made contact with the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
