Two men arrested following execution-style shooting on Spain’s Costa Blanca

THE Policia Nacional have arrested two people after a man was gunned down on Tuesday night at a parking garage in the centre of Denia.

The victim, 53, was a Spanish national but not a local resident, with police adding they were not aware of him having a criminal record.

One motive for the killing could have been a theft of drugs resulting in a settling of scores.

No details have been released about the two detained men, except the second arrest was made shortly before noon on Thursday.

Reports suggest that the ongoing investigation may yield further arrests.

The shooting happened at around 7.30pm when a motorbike rider dressed in black and wearing a dark helmet drove up to his target on Calle Patricio Ferrandiz.

The victim was fatally wounded in the chest and the bike was found abandoned not far from the crime scene.

A resident reported seeing two men wearing black trousers and a white polo shirt plus a black motorcycle helmet that hid their faces.

They were a few metres apart from each other and five minutes later he saw them ‘shoot off’ and turn towards Calle Diana in the direction of the Paseo del Saladar.

“I saw two guys running around like they were possessed and with their helmets on, which seemed very strange to me,” the witness added.

He said he was unaware of the garage shooting.
