BRITS and other tourists have been mocked online for queuing for sunbeds at a Benidorm hotel.
In a video shared on Instagram, hundreds of holidaymakers can be seen gathering by the pool at the Hotel Sol Pelicanos Ocas.
A security guard in a yellow t-shirt can be seen lowering a cordon, releasing the families into the sunbed area.
The clip was first uploaded by Instagram user samara_mylittleworld before being shared on popular Spanish meme page Carbonazi.
One commenter wrote: “The walking dead… you go on holiday to be worse off than at home.”
Another said: “They get their sunbed then disappear and their towel stays there all day, taking in the sun, so selfish.”
One local added: “We need a new law now that prohibits reserving sunbeds by the pool.”
However many rushed to defend the tourists, with one writing: “When you have a family with children I’m sure you will be in this queue as well!”
Many hotels in Benidorm and around Spain have already brought in their own rules regarding sunbeds.
At the popular Melia, for example, no one can reserve beds before 9am and you must not leave your towel for more than an hour and a half.
